The Under 15s had a round trip of more than 1000 kilometres to compete in Albury and, while they did not bring the shield home, they returned with one very proud coach.
“Congratulations to the boys on an outstanding 2015 Swan shield campaign, with victories over Eden, Bega, Batemans Bay, Karabar and Newcastle high schools,” Mr Preston said.
“The school can be proud of their achievements in making the last eight in the state and it was a memorable finale to my 30 years of high school AFL coaching.”
Mr Preston said his side faced the daunting “perennial AFL powerhouse, Albury High School” on September 14.
Despite having the majority of play and equally matching their fancied opponents, Albury was too strong, winning 13-5-83 to 4-10-34.
Mr Preston said captain, Jai Reed was “the dominant player on the field, ably assisted in the midfield by Jeremy Sly and Zac Martin, with Jackson Taylor a tower of strength”.
“League converts Blake Cavanagh, Connor Breust, Marcus Lonsdale and Jackson Kelly provided great tackling pressure.
Jackson Taylor 2, Jeremy Sly and Marcus Lonsdale scored a goal each.
