Located at the Mt Dromedary Uniting Church, Monty’s Place serves meals to an average of 55 people every Wednesday lunchtime.
There is a small army of around 40 active volunteers making it all possible.
Monty’s Place drew its inspiration from long-standing Ricky’s Place at Bega. More recently Pearl’s Place was started at Merimbula.
Eurobodalla mayor Lindsay Brown was there to celebrate Monty’s Place second birthday.
“It’s a wonderful assett to the community and the social interaction that takes place the biggest windfall,” he said.
“Poeple look forward to having lunch, getting together and having a chat.”
He congratulated Monty’s Place founder Rev. David Oliphant and his hard working team.
Chef Gerd Tiedt had been there since 5.30am preparing the dishes and stuffing chicken legs.
The Rev. Oliphant said he was very pleased with the way the community had come to cherish Monty’s Place, growing from the first 14 diners to as many as 75.
There was one main anonymous donor helping out financially but many people and businesses donated either produce or their time.
