NEW MEMBERS: Anne-Marie Roberson and Sandy Clapson have joined the wonderful ladies at the Bodalla Country Women’s Association.
ON Wednesday the Bodalla Branch of the Country Women’s Association held their 2012 Awareness Day to try and raise awareness of the association and encourage women to join the group.
2012 marks the 90th Anniversary of the CWA and on Wednesday it was a good time to reflect on times gone by and to recognize individuals who have made a significant contribution to the community.
The Bodalla CWA chose to recognise the wonderful work that Bodalla resident Kath Crapp has made to the community and on Wednesday she was awarded the first Bodalla CWA of NSW Honorary Membership at the Awareness Day morning tea.
Mrs Crapp who is recovering in Canberra Hospital following a long illness was unable to be there on the day, but the Bodalla CWA women all spoke to her on the phone and said that she was thrilled with the award.
Kath Crapp is known for her work as a teacher and teacher librarian at Bodalla Public School until her retirement. She was the chairperson of the Bodalla Sesquicentenary Celebrations; Kath is also the secretary of the Moruya Show Ground Committee; a member of the Sing Australia Choir; an active member of the Uniting Church of Bodalla; Deputy Chairman of the Moruya Bowling and Recreation Club and greatly involved with the local Poultry Club and Show Society.
“Kath has enriched the lives of all who have met her,” Jo Evans, president of the Bodalla CWA said.
CWA Awareness Day attracted some new ladies to the morning tea with the Bodalla Branch signing up two members on the day – Anne-Maree Roberson and Sandy Clapson.
The Bodalla Branch of the CWA recently lost one of the members. Mrs May Koellner (nee Emmott) joined as a junior at the first meeting in Bodalla on August 21, 1930. She recently passed away on August 14, 2012 aged 101.
