PGA Legends Pro-Am with 124 starters.
Bermagui Country Club hosted it’s inaugural PGA Legends Pro-Am. 51 professionals entered the event and played alongside 73 amateur players, male and female, which included sponsors, locals and visitors from other clubs. The event was played as a shotgun start and the course was saturated with groups starting on every tee. Some of the big names from yesteryear entered in the event, included Rodger Davis, Michael Harwood, Tim Elliott and Terry Price. Ultimately, it was the two players with the best credentials that prevailed with Rodger Davis and Michael Harwood sharing first place with a very respectable score of 3 under par 69 on the Bermagui layout. Two players David Hando and Alan May shot even par 72 and in fifth place alone with a score of two over par 74 was the evergreen Terry Price. Davis and Harwood have both finished runner-up in the British Open. In 1987, Davis finished second to Nick Faldo and in 1991, Harwood was second to Ian Baker-Finch. Both Davis and Harwood when accepting their shared first prize cheques made glowing comments about the course and have committed to return to Bermagui to defend their shared title next year. The amateurs winners who received a golf bag each were Greg Cummins from Bermagui and Nerida Holzhauser also from Bermagui. Tournament organiser, Derek Quinto, said that the tournament was a great success and thanked all the sponsors without who, it wouldn’t be possible to hold the tournament. He confirmed that next year’s tournament would be even bigger and better with hopefully more Legend professionals competing and perhaps for bigger prizemoney.
All prizes were presented by Michael Vanizetti from Toohey’s Brothers who were the major sponsor.

An important day in our calendar is the annual Captain’s vs President’s Team 4BBB medley Stableford event and on Saturday we had over 70 starters.
The President’s Team in blue colours this year reversed the trend with a significant win to oust the Captain’s red Team.
The Captains mob was lead out by the respective men’s and ladies captains Ray Stephens and Jo Buttrey and their team came in with a total score of 683 points which was not enough to overcome the President’s Team who romped home with 708 points. Ron Lye led the Presidents Team and took the win with great glee.
The winning pair for the Captain’s Team was Val Schilling and Trady Howarth with 45 points and on the President’s side the pairing of Barry Bowling and Derek Nash came in with the best score of the day 47 points. It was another great day on the Bermagui golf calendar with a barbeque and refreshments at the finish.
