The Narooma Tennis Club will once again host the exciting Over 35s Tennis Tournament on March 12 and 13 with events in women’s doubles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles. The closing date for entries is Friday, February 26.
All events will be round-robin format so, win or lose, everyone will get plenty of tennis.
In addition, all players will go in the draw to win prizes including accommodation packages, a tennis racquet and a charter boat tour.
The tournament is sanctioned by Tennis Seniors NSW and forms part of a state-wide circuit of over 35s tournaments. While play is always competitive, matches are played in a friendly sporting spirit.
Narooma Tennis Club president Kathie Thackray said was the annual event was successful last year
“It’s attracting entries from the ACT, Victoria, Riverina and Shoalhaven districts, as well as from locals,” Thackray said.
All events are combined age doubles – the draw is based on the total age of each pair.
This allows for players of different ages to pair up, often resulting in some interesting combinations. Entry fees are $12 per person per event, spectators are free and welcome.
Men’s double starts the event on Saturday morning, followed by women’s doubles in the afternoon. Mixed doubles starts on Sunday morning followed by a barbecue lunch to wind up the weekend.
