Despite the rain and an expectation of big seas, participants were pleasantly surprised that conditions were more lake-like given that South West Rocks is so well protected.
Medallists include gold to Sam Patmore in the under 9s sprint, bronze to Elli Beecham in the under 12s sprint and gold to Rod Patmore in the over 30s sprint.
As we have come to expect from our Veterans crew, they blitzed it again by taking out gold in the 120s division. Narooma's crew consisted of Nigel Constable, Rod Patmore, Jae Constable, Mick Manning and Brendan Constable (sweep) - pictured below with medals.
Well done also to our sprint crew in the Reserves division who rowed well in the heats and only missed the final by a point. Congratulations to Troy Beecham, Jon Hull, Jon Carruthers, Andrew McCaughtrie and sweep Brendan Constable.
These are exceptional results for Narooma SLSC in a very competitive event. Our nippers performed extremely well under some trying conditions given the large number of competitors and long waiting times for the heats in each age group. Thanks to the water safety team as well as Jon Carruthers who manned the mic for a while and kept everyone up to date with proceedings.
Well done everyone for your stellar efforts and club representation. You've done Narooma proud.
Timely incident reporting reminder
In recent weeks, there has been a few serious injuries sustained by club members. Luckily, all members are recovering well from their injuries, however this serves as an important reminder to everyone of the procedures for ensuring all incidents are properly reported and recorded.
* The incident must be logged in Surfguard (within 48 hours) & an IRD number to be emailed to Leanne Constable;
* If the injury occurs away from the Club, eg at a Carnival, it is the home club's responsibility to complete the form, not the host club;
* Notification of injury form needs to be completed and lodged with WorkCover at wca.claims@workcover.nsw.gov.au within 48 hours (and cc to Leanne);
* Return to Surf Duties form must be completed by a GP, hospital and/or specialist before the member can return to activities (including patrol), plus a copy to Leanne as well.

FSC Branch Surf Sports News
FSC Branch conducted interviews last weekend with some of the best and brightest young lifesavers in our region for Junior Lifesaver of the Year. The high caliber of contenders made selection of just one boy and one girl difficult, however Annabelle Smith from Broulee Surfers and Jake Shaw from Pambula have been selected to represent the FSC at the SLS NSW Junior Lifesaver of the Year interviews in April. Highly commended was Kallan Lavender (Pambula) and Ryley Spoiler-Hanlon (Moruya). Wish all of them well when you see them at Jindabyne this weekend.
