Rider airlifted to Canberra
AT 5pm on Monday, September 24, a motorbike rider was involved in a serious accident in Narooma.
The 20-year-old Narooma man was travelling along Riverside Drive when he braked suddenly and heavily, crossed over double lines and collided with an oncoming car.
The rider was trapped beneath the car for a short time before members of the public pulled him out.
The man sustained multiple fractures and was airlifted to Canberra in the Snowy Hydro SouthCare Rescue Helicopter.
Police investigations are continuing.
Beer and bike theft
AN amount of beer and a child’s BMX bike valued at $112 were stolen from a site in Narooma Easts Holiday Park.
The theft occurred between 8.30pm on Tuesday, September 25 and 7am the following day.
Scooter stolen
A MAGI pro scooter with fluorescent green wheels was stolen from Surf Beach Holiday Park between 9pm on Wednesday, September 26 and 8am the following day.
Plates pinched
THE front and rear number plates were stolen from a Suzuki Vitara parked in Riverside Drive between 12.30pm on Friday and 2.20pm Saturday.
The registration of the ACT plates is YHW 37F.
Water bomb fight
A YOUNG teenager lost his temper and kicked and damage a car parked in the Narooma Library car park on Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred when the 13-year-old Tilba Tilba lad was engaged in a water bomb fight with a group of youths.
Police were called to the scene and spoke with the boy. Due to his previously unblemished record he is eligible for a youth caution under the Young Offenders Act.
Malicious damage
BETWEEN 5pm on Friday, September 21 and 8am the following Monday a large chain and padlock on a gate was damaged by unknown persons.
The gate was the main entrance to a property on Tathra-Bermagui Road, Murrah.
Depot break in
UNKNOWN persons cut through fences and gained access to two yards at the council works depot at Bermagui.
It is alleged that diesel was syphoned from two vehicles.
The incident occurred between 8am Sunday and 8am Monday.
Tuross Head shooting case
A TUROSS Head man accused of shooting at a house while people were inside will face court next month, after his case was adjourned last week.
Wesley Ronald Hayles is in custody and didn’t appear via audio visual link at Batemans Bay Court on Monday.
However, his defence lawyer Stewart Gray asked for the case to be adjourned for another month as he was awaiting advice from the public defender’s office.
Mr Hayles, 46, of Jutland Ave, Tuross Head, is accused of firing a 6.5mm Carl Gustav bolt action rifle at a house in Grenville Ave, Tuross Head, between 8pm and midnight on March 25.
It is believed there were two women inside the house at the time.
Mr Hayles is charged with firing a firearm at a house with reckless disregard for safety, firing it in a manner likely to injure, possessing an unregistered firearm in a public pace, not keeping a firearm safely, possessing an unregistered firearm, possessing an unauthorised firearm, possessing ammunition and contravening an Apprehended Violence Order.
He has not entered a plea.
Mr Hayles will appear before Batemans Bay Local Court on October 22 by audio visual link.
