Pre-season training has been excellent with good numbers at all sessions and the selectors will have some headaches deciding who gets the nod to play in this important first competition game.
First Grade coach Clint Wright will have all players available except for big prop Tony Tyrell who has damaged his shoulder and will be unavailable for some weeks. There is a rumour going around that he is having training wheels fitted to his motor bike! He will be a big loss but nevertheless the Devils should field a very strong side including our two US players who did so well in the Nines two weeks ago.
The Reserve Grade under coaches Troy Cook and Koorin Campbell should also field an excellent team with many new faces as well as a few old ones who are keen to establish themselves in the side.
The Ladies League Tag team under coach Tegan Mundy have been training really enthusiastically and look like being strong contenders again this year. Their opponents, the Cooma Fillies, are also a strong team so it should be a great game.
It’s an ideal time to play at Cooma as the cold weather has not arrived yet.
Make a day of it and follow them up for some great footy!
Next Saturday the Devils are at home to the Bega Roosters. It will definitely be a great game!
