Eurobodalla Council is installing new town entrance signs at Batemans Bay, Moruya and Narooma.
Council has already this week installed the new Batemans Bay town entrance sign, while a third will also be erected at Moruya.
The unveiling of the new Narooma town sign will be on Thursday, June 2 and will be located on the northern entrance to town just past the EcoTel Motel.
The basic design of each of the signs is the same, featuring a faux-sandstone base with pillars made of structural polymer depicting surf-to-sand images.
The Batemans Bay sign features a diver, waterbirds, swordfish and cyclist that are watermarks, while the boat and lettering are made of metal.
A three-dimensional swoosh in Eurobodalla branding colours links the design with a river theme that shows movement and connection.
The exact design of the Narooma sign remains a secret but was devised based on feedback from the Narooma Chamber of Commerce and president Niels Bendixsen said it was to be finally be getting a new sign after many years.
“It is important that three major town have matching signs and they tie in nicely together,” Mr Bendixsen said.
Mayor Lindsday Brown said the new sign for Narooma looked great and the collaborative process with the three business chambers in each town had been terrific.
"We know these signs will send a really positive message to people visiting our three main towns, welcoming everybody to our beautiful part of the world,” he said.
“I am really appreciative that we’ve been able to work so closely with the three chambers to achieve yet another positive outcome for businesses who provide employment and services to our whole community.”
Cr Brown said he promised the business community the signs when he was elected.
“It is great to be able to do this in my term as mayor. We haven’t had town signs since I moved to the area in the 80s,” he said.
Batemans Bay Chamber of Commerce president Alan Rutherford and Mayor Lindsay Brown this week unveiled the Batemans Bay entrance sign near the Princes and Kings Highways intersection.
A second, identical sign will be installed in the next few weeks on the highway south of the council depot.
All the signs were designed and made by a specialist design company in close consultation with the three business chambers, councillors and staff.
Mr Rutherford said the sign was a long time coming.
“We’ve worked hard with council to get something happening for the shire’s three main towns,” he said.
“Each sign is unique and gives our three main towns their own identity. The Bay sign looks great.”
