The pair impressed selectors during the country championships despite the Greater Southern Region side being knocked out by the third round.
Jordan is based out of Eden, but made the move to play with the Narooma club last year after winning a number of minor league finals with the Eden Tigers.
Meanwhile, Matt is a Devil through and through, but also backs up on Sundays to play in the under 18s Eden-Cobargo combination.
Eels president Dave Allen said Matt was just an inspiring player.
“He is a very exciting player and also excels at athletics, and is a Bermagui resident.”
Allen said part of the reformation of the Cobargo-Bermagui club was to ensure Indigenous communities could represent their own town on the field and Matt was a shining example of local talent.
“Matt has attracted other Indigenous guys to the club, who may not have played rugby league otherwise but can now play with their mates locally.
“There were a few NRL scouts at the recent championships and no doubt Matt would have caught their eye.”
The duo did catch the eye of selectors, with Jordan signed for a two-year contract by Dale Finucane’s manager Andrew Purcell after his efforts.
“Players like Dale and Josh Jackson were the same age when I started working with them and Jordan shares the same vision,” Purcell said of the signing.
“He’s got all the hallmarks of a terrific talent and that is a testament to show it doesn’t matter what town you come from, if you have the right attitude, you can achieve anything,” Purcell said.
He said Jordan was showing a clear affinity for football, but it was aided by a good home life and playing among his mates.
The player-manager will aim to assist in education and performance workshops for the rising young talent.
Jordan’s proud dad, Wayne, said his son was a versatile player that enjoyed the centres, but could go anywhere from the forwards to the outside backs.
Meanwhile, Matt is highly regarded in the back line roles with exceptional displays in fullback and has been named as winger on the CRL line-up.
Purcell said a key focus in the NRL now was on education and life post-rugby league.
“A footy career is finite, but your education is for life,” he said.
