UPDATE Monday morning: The high water from the king tide overnight receded from the Narooma Flat but with ongoing pouring rain and another high tide this morning, there is a lot of standing water.

Restaurants and boat shed owners along Riverside Drive are cleaning up Monday morning with major damage at The Inlet and Quarterdeck, as well as the Narooma Sport and Game Fishing Club.
Chris Scroggy from the Quarterdeck restaurant said the water last night came in about 10cm and caused some minor damage. The electrician had been in and they were hoping to reopen Thursday after a clean-up, although there was no insurance for sheds on the water.
Bill Taylor and his crew at The Inlet were also busy overnight with water damaging equipment and also the new dining area.
At 9am, they were waiting for the latest high tide to pass to see whether there was going to be more inundation, as well as tonight.
“I’ve been touched with everyone coming by and offering help, it’s been great to have that support,” Mr Scroggy said.
The one way people could help would be to come in when the Quarterdeck reopened hopefully on Thursday and in particular to the live music show this Sunday lunchtime.
Residents on low-lying streets of the Narooma Flat also dealt with rising water last night.
Gabriele Eichler on Lynch street reported last night reported the flood waters were up to her second step in back yard. “In 2011 it came to fourth. Then it’s time to panic.”
The current Eurobodalla road closures as of Monday 9am are as follows:
- · Eurobodalla Road west of Cemetery Bridge including Nerrigundah Mountain Road
- · Araluen Road at Kiora Bridge (alternate access via Larry’s Mountain road)
- · Centenary Drive Narooma (Narooma bound lane closed)
- · Congo Road at causeway (alternate access via Bingie Road)
- · Various low level crossings throughout the shire
There is also an Urgent Water Restriction Notice; Quaama, Cobargo, Bermagui, Wallaga Lake and Beauty Point areas.
Due to current weather conditions BVSC has turned off the pumps on the Brogo River that supply water to Quaama, Cobargo, Bermagui, Wallaga Lake and Beauty Point earlier today.
This was necessary due to the turbidity sharply rising to unacceptable levels.
Council request that all users within Quaama, Cobargo, Bermagui, Wallaga Lake and Beauty Point use water as sparingly as possible until further notice.
Sunday night: The combination of a 2-metre king tide and massive East Coast Low with 7-metre swells has resulted in flooding in Wagonga Inlet and coastal erosion around the Narooma area.
Tide watcher Greg Watts was out on Sunday night taking photos and comparing levels to previous years, saying it was a “perfect storm” and he had not seen levels this high.
Fortunately high tide on the coastline was 8.30pm meaning levels should start to decline, although more than 200mm of rain and counting was also causing significant inundation.
Areas flooded include restaurants on Forsters Bay, while water was lapping onto the Princes Highway at the Narooma Bridge and Fisco skipper Ryan Todd reported the town wharf was 2-foot under.
The Quarterdeck Restaurant looked to be inundated and owner Chris Scroggy was there to deal with the flooding, while his wife Robyn said water had never gone into the building before.
There was a plus side as skipper of the Sheriff Matt Betts hand caught fish at the Narooma town wharf and even found a stranded squid.
Ryan Wallace said the bridge at golf course near surf beach water was only a foot from bottom of bridge.
There was flooding down at Bermagui too and Sarah Cooper snapped the high water on the road at the Bermagui Bridge in front of the River Rock Cafe.
The storm lashed Naroooma all Sunday with some great photos taken – check them out here
