Utility rampage – Police investigated the theft of a fancy V8 utility from Bermagui that together with a fishing boat attached that became partially dislodged from a trailer and was badly damaged after it was dragged behind the ute on the roadway all the way to Wallaga Lake.

The 2014 FPV Falcon utility belonging to a visitor from Bairnsdale with a tinny on a trailer attached was stolen from a Bermagui address sometime between 7pm last Wednesday and 7.45am the next morning.
Police meanwhile attended Wallaga Lake at 1.15am that morning when a female was allegedly assaulted outside a residence by a man allegedly driving the stolen utility. He subsequently got into the vehicle, drove away but not before crashing into a parked car.
The utility was not yet reported stolen at this time, so police were not aware of this connection, but at 10.30am a local resident reported to police that the utility and damaged boat were located at Mosquito Point, Wallaga Lake.
The ute and boat were recovered and forensically tested. Investigations have now led to police searching for a 21-year-old man previously from the Armidale area who is wanted for questioning in relation to the theft, assault and crash with the parked vehicle.
Town roll-over – A 46-year-old Narooma woman drove a Holden Commodore in a westerly direction down Tilba Street, Narooma at 12.15am Thursday. When she reached the intersection with the Princes Highway, she collided with a parked vehicle, resulting in the Commodore rolling onto its roof.
She was able to free herself and walk away, but witnesses followed her and contacted police. She was located and failed a breath test recording a high-range reading of 0.160. The women had her license suspended and was bailed to appear in Narooma local court.
Flare theft – A charter boat at the Narooma town wharf was broken into sometime between Thursday and Saturday with two parachute flares but no other property stolen. Police are asking for anyone with information or who sees the flares to contact them on 4476 2044 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
Cupboard fire – A small fire was started in a cupboard in a vacant house on Umbarra Road, Wallaga Lake around 3.15pm on Thursday. Local RFS and Fire and Rescue NSW brigades attended and extinguished the fire that caused minimal smoke damage.
Scam watch – Locals in the Narooma district are reporting numerous email scam attempts, with the latest related to PayPal accounts. Other recent scam attempts have also involved the AGL energy company, while still others have had false DropBox requests. As always, if in doubt, do not open any attachments and the latest info can be found on the Scamwatch website.
