The event, run by the Brindabella Motor Sports Club based in Canberra is a competitive motor sport event conducted in the forests surrounding Narooma, as is a round of the ACT and NSW State Championships.
The event is centred around NATA Oval, where spectators can meet the drivers and see the cars up close as part of the Service Park – basically an outdoor workshop. Forest spectator action is available on Mitchells Ridge Road, just off the highway, from 12.30pm and again at 4pm.
Leading the crews away will be the 4WD beasts of Mick Patton, Michael Harding, and Adrian Coppin. The three, all based in the ACT, are regular competitors in the national rally championship, and therefore the pace is expected to be hot.
Following is a wide range of vehicles, from Subaru WRXs, Mitsubishi EVOs, and Toyota Corolla, to the spectator favourite classic cars like Datsun 180B’s and Ford Escorts.
The organisers have been kept busy following the recent storms in the region, with fallen trees causing issues with the event planning.
“We had a crew down cutting and moving fallen trees for over six hours in the past week,” organiser Michael Taylor said. “However we are more than happy that our efforts benefit the Narooma community which gives so much to this event.”
For residents of the forest areas, please make note of the road closures in the attached map, and be aware that you may need to take alternate routes on the day. For any further information, head to naroomaforestrally.com.au or email admin@naroomaforestrally.com.au
