THE Bermagui community this Saturday night will celebrate the grand opening of the Bermagui Surf Life Saving Club House with a cocktail party and live music.
Construction on the club rooms commenced in 2007 after award of the Contract to G & G Homes of Bermagui.
The structure was designed by local designers and engineers, namely Gordon Drafting Services – Bega and Andrew Marshman and Associates – Merimbula.
Funding for the project came through grants received through the Bega Valley Shire Council arranged by Bermagui Surf Life Saving Club committee members.
The BSLSC recognises the significant contribution to the construction costs by the local community, businesses, volunteer organisations and notably the Bega Valley Shire Council etc.
Over the five years of construction the structure rose out of the back of the sand dune behind Horseshoe Bay.
The first stage being the ground floor garage and concrete floor of the upper level was completed in May 2012.
The majority of the works were completed in 2011, with interim occupancy certification received in May 2012.
Saturday sees the grand opening of the fine facility and the continuing support of volunteer surf life saving services for the Bermagui community.
Tickets for Saturday’s party featuring the band Footloose Strangers are still available from Bermagui Cellars but hurry as organisers were hoping for final numbers by tomorrow at the latest.
