MINI MIGALOO: Darryl Stuart snapped Mini Migiloo swimming past Narooma last October where he jumped for joy.
NAROOMA Charters is hoping locals can help them spot the young white whale known as “Mini Migaloo”.
It was October 13 last year when Darryl Stuart spotted the new born white whale swimming past Montague Island with its mother.
Now he reckons with the whale migration just about hitting its peak, now is about the time when the pair should be back on their way south.
The humpback whale southerly migration is a little later this year but yesterday Marine Rescue Narooma spent the morning warning boaters about a group of whales loitering just off the bar crossing.
Darryl is hoping locals will keep an eye out for the Mini Migalooo, named after the other famous white whale that was recently spotted further north on its way back to Antarctica.
There was more chance that Mini Migaloo will swim closer to shore as that’s what mother whales with juveniles do, he said.
He is even offering locals from the postcode 2546 a special deal of $55 off the usual price of $80 for a whale trip for the rest of October.
