LOCAL athlete Joe Halsey competed in the Kombat NSW All Schools Track and Field competition from Friday to Sunday, October 12 to 14 representing St Peters Anglican College.
First up was the 800m preliminary heat on Friday. The weather was atrocious, by the time the race was run the weather had broken and then the wind started. Joe placed first in his heat with a time of 2.03min. The final was held late Saturday afternoon. It was a fast and blistering race.
Joe finished fourth with a time of 1.58.86 and was pipped at the post for third by a time of 1.58.84 and second place was 1.58.23. All the boys were 1.58 it was photo finish result.
Unfortunately Joe was pushed to fourth place, but it was still a great effort with Joe taking two seconds off his personal best.
Joe will now run in Perth early next year for the Australian junior championships, good luck with you endeavour!
