Everyone is invited to join in the fun which will begin at the Narooma Kinema with the screening of the classic romantic comedy Grease, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
The organiser, Suzanne Dainer, said the event was a fundraiser to help a fresh new group of candidates for the Local Government elections, to be held on September 10. The candidates are joining together under the banner ‘Community Voice – It’s time to be heard’.
Leader of the group and candidate for Mayor is former Narooma and now Mossy Point resident Anthony Mayne.
Anthony Mayne said the common bond in Community Voice Eurobodalla was that people throughout the shire wanted to reform council so that it served the community with respect and transparency.
“It is not acceptable for council to make a decision and to then seek community input,” he said. “This simply divides the community, wastes time and resources and diminishes council’s standing. Genuine consultation begins with a real desire to engage and to listen to the community. It is time to be heard.”
Grease is American classic romantic comedy first released in 1978. It is one of the most successful movies ever made and centers around two young lovers in a 1950s high school. The night begins at Narooma Kinema from 6.30pm for a 7 pm start.
The cost is $20 a head. There will be prizes for the best dressed ‘Lightning Style’. All are welcome to join Community Voice members and candidates for drinks and dinner at Club Narooma afterwards. The $20 entry to Grease does not cover the Narooma Club gathering.
Bookings for Grease can be made at the Kinema or by phoning Suzanne on 0431 486 617.
