Theatre founder Anthony Mayne said the wide support for the playhouse suggested that there was some real potential here.
“It is clear that our shire has a very vibrant arts and culture scene,” Mr Mayne said. “Interest and support has come from so many different people and groups, including the River of Arts, our shire council, the Batemans Bay Writers Festival and of course the artists themselves.”
The initial concept has already grown to include a mobile theatre option, as there has been some real interest to put on performances at Bodalla, Narooma and Tilba.
Anyone interested in hearing more and sharing their ideas, is invited to an initial get together at 5pm on Thursday, August 4 at the Hall with the Red Door, corner Campbell and Page streets, Moruya, between the Anglican Church and the Mechanics Institute.
“I look forward to meeting the stage hands, set designers, poets, producers, actors, directors and writers that have touched base,” Mr Mayne said.
