Injured player – Strong winds prevented the Snowy Hydro SouthCare rescue chopper from picking up an injured young football player on Saturday. Ambulance paramedics were called to Bill Smyth Oval around 1.45pm after the Merimbula player collided heavily with one of his teammates, jolting his neck and back violently. The rescue chopper was called but could not make the mission due to the adverse weather conditions. The young player was taken to hospital by road and was discharged later that day with no serious injury.
Akolele accident – A Subaru Impreza being driven north over the Wallaga Lake bridge crashed on the bends at Akolele around 10pm on Saturday. The driver lost control and hit an embankment with the vehicle coming to rest on its side. Nobody was present when police arrived, and investigations continue.
Fail to pay – The passenger in a black Commodore station-wagon filled the car with fuel at a service station on the Narooma Flat at 7.20pm on Sunday before the driver drove off without paying.
Plates stolen – The licence plates were stolen off an Isuzu utility at the Narooma golf club between 5am and 7am on Monday.
Vehicle damaged – Unknown persons damaged a car parked outside a Payne Street, Narooma between 12am and 11am on Saturday.
Safe located – A locked safe was located in bushland off Umburra Road, Wallaga Lake on Thursday night. Anyone who has lost a safe, contact Narooma police on 4476 2044.
Mid-ranger – A 60-year-old Narooma man was arrested and his licence suspended after allegedly being found driving mid-range on Campbell Street, Narooma at 9.30pm last Tuesday.
Outriggers stolen – Someone stole the outriggers from a Bertram fishing boat moored at Bermagui Harbour between June 18 and July 16.
Road fine – A 31-year-old Dalmeny man was issued with an infringement notice for driving his motorcycle through road closed signs on Centenary Drive, Narooma at 6.40pm last Tuesday.
Property stolen – The owner of Toyota Hilux on Monday reported property stolen from the vehicle that was parked on Dulip Close, Dalmeny for three weeks.
Excessive speed – A 32-year-old Narooma man was fined for excessive speed after he allegedly overtook an unmarked police car outside Moruya TAFE at 3.20pm last Wednesday.
Traffic matters – Police located a Ford XR6 sedan on Tilba Street, Narooma that had been seen driving fast through local streets around 12.30am on Saturday. A 19-year-old Dalmeny man was issued with court attendance notice for driving while suspended and other traffic matters.
Stolen plates – Police stopped a Commodore sedan on the Princes Highway, Narooma at 9.55pm on Thursday. A 35-year-old Wallaga Lake man was issued a court attendance notice for allegedly being in possession of stolen licence plates.
Seatbelt fine – A 44-year-old man in a Transit van was fined on Corkhill Drive, Central Tilba at 1.48pm on Friday for not wearing his seatbelt.
Operation BARB – Police in the Far South Coast Local Area Command conducted Operation BARB over Friday and Saturday. This targeted licensed venues for compliance and alcohol related crime. Over the two days there were 10 arrests, six Move On directions, one Breach of bail/warrants, one stolen motor bike recovery, two assaults and one drug possession detection. Police conducted 79 licensed venue inspections.
Theft warning – Far South Coast LAC Police are urging the public to secure their vehicles at all times when unattended. There have been incidents of late where car keys have been left in vehicle making it easy for theft. Valuables, keys should be removed and the vehicle secured. This applies to both residential and rural properties and police urge members of the community to be vigilant.
