The team had been narrowly defeated by Bega in the major semi-final but had scored excellent wins over Moruya and minor premiers Bombala to earn another crack at the Chicks in the Grand Final.
Bega started strongly with sustained pressure on Narooma and after six minutes their Australian Rugby League representative Kezie Apps beat the defence to dash over for a try. The conversion made it 6-0 to the Chicks and despite some great runs by She-Devils Kira Campbell and Jaimie-Anne Wright this is how it stayed until halftime.
After the break Narooma came out firing and immediately evened the score at 6-all when a great kick by Jamie-Anne had the Chicks scrambling, and speedster Lilly Bennett was able to pluck the ball cleanly and dash away to score under the posts.
A Devils win looked possible as they made some excellent breaks and looked like taking the lead but this was not to be as Apps showed her ability to put fullback Maddie Parberry in for two quick tries to retake the lead 14-6.
The Narooma team tried hard to bridge the gap but the Bega defence was too good and they ran out winners.

Well done to the She-Devils who tried their hearts out all day. They have really improved this year under coach Tegan Mundy and can only get better still next year. The team of Lilly, Jamie-Anne, Kira, Abby Stokes, Eadie Lee, Ellen Clarke, Shelby Johnson, Jaydean Lonsdale, Tailem Brown, Elise Johnson, Tayla Butcher, Grace Barker, Janaija Parsons, Finn Dibden and Laura Spicer should be proud of their efforts this season.
In other games Bega were too good for Merimbula-Pambula in the U18s and Bombala in Reserve Grade but Moruya spoiled their clean sweep by coming from 8-0 down at halftime to win the First Grade title 22-14.
The Devils Presentation Night will be held at O’Brien’s Hotel on Friday, September 2.
