A new stormwater system is being installed at the intersection of Centenary and Williamson Drive to improve drainage in this area.
The works will then progress to the slip area where crews will ‘rock armour’ the embankment, upgrade the stormwater and rebuild the road.
Severe storms in June caused a landslip, cutting off one lane of Centenary Drive and cracking parts of the road.
Drivers can still access Apex Park boat ramp via Dalmeny Drive and Mill Bay boat ramp from the highway, while residents of Williamson Drive can access their homes from Centenary Drive. The popular Mill Bay boardwalk that skirts Centenary Drive is open.
Council is eligible for NSW Government natural disaster funding to repair the slip and has been waiting for advice that work can proceed. The repairs have been designed to significantly reduce the possibility of further failures.
Council aims to have the road open in time for the October long weekend.
