Hosted by Council’s youth services team and the Eurobodalla Youth Committee, the sleep-out was about raising awareness for youth homelessness and follows the successful trivia night fundraiser held last month.
The sleep out was supported by Moruya Rotary who supplied minestrone soup for dinner, as well as hot drinks and toast and cereal for breakfast. Local security company Code 7 Security maintained a safe environment for everyone overnight, while social commentator Shanna Provost of Narooma led a group discussion about local youth homelessness.
Games and a Pokemon Go hunt kept the sleep-outers active until 10.30pm when they finally retreated to their sleeping bags on makeshift cardboard beds.
About 42 per cent of the homeless population is aged under 25, and the youth committee wants to shine a light on this issue locally.
