Bodalla Green lined up against Bodalla Gold in the U12s grand final, with former going on to take the title, beating their club counterparts 2-0. The win put the icing on an undefeated season for the Green team, with coach Andre Gmur understandably thrilled with the make up of the grand final.
“I said to the Bodalla Gold coach at the start of the season it would be great if both teams made it through to the big game, so to play against them was awesome,” he said.
“It was a good battle. Most of their players are a year younger than ours so they did really well to make it this far.”
Bodalla Gold showed they are capable of stepping up to the plate last week, when they defeated the second placed Moruya Swans in the U12 preliminary final at Hanging Rock Oval.
An early goal to midfield powerhouse Bradley Garner put Bodalla Green ahead within the opening minutes before striker, Baleigh Norton, made it 2-0 heading into half time.
The sides played out an even second half, with neither able to add to the score.
