This year, there were displays and demonstrations from Narooma Surf Life Saving Club, Narooma VRA rescue squad, Narooma Ambulance, RFS brigades from Narooma, Dalmeny and Central Tilba, along with Narooma Fire & Rescue.
Narooma Red Cross were also there this year, with their Rediplan and this week marked the end of Red Cross’s National Emergency Planning Awareness Week.
Attendees were treated to live demonstrations of a smoke house escape plan; a fat fire extinguishing and vehicle rescue using the Jaws of Life, along with Dalmeny fire simulator nicknamed “Little Dal” which proved a hit again this year with kids and big kids alike.
For the second year running there was a full display of an almost complete range of fire-fighting vehicles from Central Tilba to Dalmeny Fire Services, including a RFS command vehicle showing the range of vehicles and different purposes they are used for.
“The main objective of the Summer Safety Expo remains to keep safety in the fore-front of all everyone’s mind as summer approaches and Rotary is again to be commended for supported initiatives like this to help keep the community safe,” organiser Gillian Kearney said.
