Eurobodalla Council says it will undertake further works on Centenary Drive in Narooma to restore the roadway which was damaged in severe storms June and upgrade underground services, meaning the roadway is now expected to open in November.

Work has been underway since August to repair the road which cracked and slumped away following heavy rains.
After investigating the damage to the road, council has taken the decision to relocate two sewer rising mains and an underground power line whilst the roadway is closed to ensure these are better protected.
The main sewer line transports sewage from the Narooma township to the treatment plant at Kianga and a 400 metre section is being replaced. A new watermain is also being laid to service the regional boat ramp at Apex Park whilst the roadway is closed.
New stormwater pipes are also being installed to improve road drainage, before rock protection is installed on the edge of the estuary and the road embankment is rebuilt from the bottom back to road level.
The extra works mean the re-opening of the section of Centenary Drive between Williamson Drive to a point west of the boat ramp car park will be delayed until November.
Drivers can still access Apex Park boat ramp via Dalmeny Drive and Mill Bay boat ramp from the highway. The popular Mill Bay boardwalk that skirts Centenary Drive is open.
Council is eligible for NSW Government natural disaster funding to repair the slip. The repairs have been designed to significantly secure the roadway and lower the risk of failures in the underground services under the roadway.
