Organisers had a bullock team pulling a log through the bush, the Montreal Pit Singers producing a great sound, gold panning, writing your own mining certificate with pen and ink, craft stalls, portrait sketches of visitors by the Cobargo artists and of course poetry and stories by Henry Lawson. To say nothing of Bill’s mouth watering damper.
The day turned out to be beautiful with the sun shining through the trees and a relaxed atmosphere reminiscent of times gone by.
The Montreal Goldfield management committee volunteers are to be congratulated for their effort and enthusiasm that made the day possible.
