Mr Whitty explained he and friends had a birthday party for his wife Isabel at the Golfie. “I played happy birthday for Isabel. It was a lovely night,” he said.
They came out at about 9.30pm to head home in their car and he put the trumpet, contained in its case, on the boot or the ground while he was helping a lady friend into the car and out of the rain.
“I must have forgot the trumpet and drove off,” he lamented.
Then he was packing his truck to go on a recording gig on Saturday and could not find the trumpet in its brown case anywhere around his house.
He described his beloved trumpet as his “axe” and said it was worth around $5,000. “Boo-hoo!!”
He has now reported the loss to the NSW Police helpline and also to the Narooma police station.
Anyone who has any knowledge about the whereabouts of the trumpet is asked to make a report to Narooma police on 4476 2044 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000. Alternatively, anyone with information can contact the golf club on 4476 0505.
Mr Whitty said there would be no questions asked, as he just wants his “axe” back.
