The graffiti containing offensive words and images was written sometime between 4pm Thursday and 7am Friday. In the same time period, similar graffiti was also sprayed on the toilet block at Ken Rose Park. Council cleaned off the paint at both toilet blocks.
A Clarke Street house under construction was also broken into between Saturday and Monday and offensive graffiti sprayed in silver paint on a polished timber floor.
Narooma Devils footy club was left devastated and disappointed by the thoughtless vandalism at the oval.
Seniors president Jamie Wright said the club had just spent $2000 on the new scoreboard, named after a club supporter and sponsor, 18 months ago.
He was going to attempt start cleaning up the graffiti tonight during touch footy, while he was happy to report council had already cleaned up the toilet block.
“It’s disgusting and whoever did it should take a long hard look at themselves,” Mr Wright said.
Juniors president Craig Swadling was equally disgusted and was onto council straight away to clean up the toilet block. “It’s very disappointing for all our juniors.”
They urged anyone with information to contact either Narooma police on 4476 2044 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
