There were 16 swimmers who hopped in at the Narooma Bridge and drifted down to their normal starting point at Bar Beach. Members Radio Ray Hirst and Michael O’Connor were also there in support. It was an outgoing tide with balmy 21-degree water, even warmer than the outside temperature.
Radio Ray and Michael were there at the finish with warm drinks before the swimmers stopped in at Brent Lockton’s place for a few more drinks, before retiring to O’Brien’s Hotel for their annual Christmas lunch and drinks. They enjoyed a delicious lunch of prawns, roast pork and trifle prepared by the Raw Prawn Bistro.
The swimmers will next meet again when the winter swimming season begins again next year on Mother’s Day. The club, which is affiliated with the Winter Swimming Association of Australia, is always looking for new members, so why not mark that Sunday in your diary!
