Minimal work has been done, due to financial constraints and, while it is regularly mown along the track, the leaf litter in this bush area is 20mm deep, with many fallen limbs and dead growth which present a fire risk.

The track through this easement is used twice daily by school children accessing the bus stop (safer than using the road), residents walking dogs, others accessing the town bus, kids on bikes, trail bikes, vehicles accessing the rear of properties and work vehicles maintaining the sewage line, so deserves to be maintained to a safe level.

We are all encouraged to clear up our yards, prepare a fire plan etc, however the council does not follow similar advice and assist residents remain safe.

Is there a duty of care to those living close to public property?

I call on the council to protect not only the residents, but especially the child care centre that would be impacted on in such a terrifying event for young children, whose nearest safe spot would be the headland reached only through this treed area.

I encourage others to write in regard this or other matters.

I realise it tends to fall on deaf ears and becomes frustrating, but we should not let that discourage us - erosion finally wears away.

I thank everyone who helped make the Renewable Energy Expo such a great success.

In particular, our generous sponsors ensured that the financial side of things was well cared for.

Many individuals also donated their time to help out.

The Lions Club helped feed people with an excellent BBQ on Saturday, Patricia Coutant made fabulous pies, and hybrid owner Christopher showed off his 3L/100km Toyota Prius, while the exhibitors enthusiastically manned their stands.

Not just one, but two Tesla Model S cars, the fastest production cars in the world, flanked the entrance.

Thanks to Warwick Hall and Rene Konrad, who showed that range anxiety for electric cars is a thing of the past, having driven them down from Sydney and Canberra.

A great turnout with nearly 600 people through the doors, shows just how much enthusiasm there is for shaving dollars off the electricity bill.

Saturday night saw Club Narooma put on a great buffet meal for 65 hungry diners, followed by three very interesting speakers, John Grimes from the Solar Council, Lawrence Mcintosh from Solarshare and Lisa Miller from the Office of Environment and Heritage.

As a result of this great event, our club has $900 that will be directed to our charity program and $1,700 in donations towards the provision of solar lighting in PNG, Cambodia and Timor Leste.
