Rebecca Gomperts is a Dutch doctor pushing the limits of abortion law by providing abortions on a ship in offshore waters.
The statistics and arguments for legal abortion will not strike viewers as new, but the film illustrates how difficult access can be.
The documentary follows Dr Gomperts to several countries as her project, Women on Waves, faces governmental, religious and military blockades, and even warships off Portugal.
The film is as much about activism as abortion. Vessel raises provocative questions about the power of laws to police information in an increasingly globalised world.
Vessel screens at the Old Cobargo Butter Factory at 3.30pm on Sunday, March 12.
Entry by $5 donation. Bring your own mug; coffee and tea provided.
