Narooma and District Lions Club was privileged to host Lions Australia Youth of the Year district final at the Narooma Golf Club on Sunday, March 12.

The district was well represented with contestants being sponsored by their respective Lions clubs from Wollongong, Ulladulla - Milton, Bega, Belconnen, Goulburn City and Campbelltown City .
Judges Bronwyn Roll, Lynda Ord, Gillian Kearney, Lindsay Brown and Neil Burnside, must have had a difficult task in choosing the winner as all prepared speeches were outstanding.
Elinor Stephenson from Wollongong won the Impromptu Speeches section, spoke on “A Fluid Language” as her prepared speech.
Ava Del Turo from Ulladulla–Milton was the outright winner with her prepared speech “Human Condition”.
Roslyn Love-Myers from Bega chose “Youth Mental Health – Be An Individual” as her prepared speech.
Niamh Martin from Belconnen and her topic was “How Words Can Hurt”.
Tryston Singh from Campbelltown and his topic was “Inspiration”.
Liam Eden from Goulburn chose “Inspirational Person” for his speech.
The winner will go onto the State Final being held in Forbes on April 8.
“These six finalists were amazing and proved to be exceptional young people, who we can be proud of, and know that Australia is in good hands in the future,” Narooma Lions president Margaret Latimer said.
“Our Lions Club and the Narooma community can be proud that we have contributed to the futures of these young Australians.”
