The students gathered at school on Friday to accept a generous donation of $2000 from Narooma Sporting and Services Club general manager Tony Casu, who himself grew up on a farm at Corowa and so is well versed in all things agriculture.
Showing up for the photo opportunity were the school’s three 10-month-old Limousin heifers, Mabel, Misty and Muscles, who together with the students have all done well on the local show circuit.
Teacher Kylie Maher said the students said they were most grateful and the donation would help them travel to the Royal Show in the next couple of weeks.
Narooma High School’s show team had another successful day at Cobargo Show recently. There were 28 students represented the high school’s show team looking after 15 head of cattle.
Then the Narooma High School Show Team had a mammoth week at Canberra Royal Show. Ms Maher said the students at Canberra participated in a range of competitions including Junior Judging where they have to judge three groups of four animals and place them in the correct order.
The students at Canberra lead the cattle in the Limousin Judging, this is where one of their cows was awarded Reserve Champion Cow.
