The Nashos have again successfully negotiated with the Defence Ceremonial Support Department to perform a flypast over NSW South Coast towns in support of local Anzac Day marches and ceremonies.
Following the RAAF C130 Hercules in 2015 and Navy Bell helicopters last year, a Navy AS350 Squirrel helicopter from 723 Squadron, based at HMAS Albatross, will pass over Batemans Bay, Moruya, Narooma, Bermagui and Bega on Tuesday, April 25.
Nashos president Peter Wilson thanked the RAAF and Navy for their involvement in previous years and welcomed the Navy’s support once again for 2017 Anzac Day services.
The 723 Squadron was first formed in 1952 and has served operationally during the Vietnam War, the Gulf War and East Timor. It currently operates as a helicopter training squadron based at Nowra.
Flyover schedule:
Tuross Head at 10.50am, Batemans Bay 10.53am, Moruya 10.59am, Narooma 11am, Bermagui 11.10am and Bega at 11.17am.
