Each year, David Miller from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music selects some of the most talented students from the ‘Con’ for a tour of country areas and some amazing young musicians have entertained us in the past.
This year’s ensemble will be standout with a saxophone quartet, a guitarist and a soprano. David Miller AM will accompany the students on piano.
The saxophone quartet is composed of Chung Him Chu on soprano saxophone, Xiao Han on alto saxophone, Jasmine-Jade Mills on tenor saxophone and Travers Keirle on baritone saxophone.
The quartet will be performing Handel’s wonderful ‘The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba’ as well as other pieces including the popular ‘Pirates of the Caribbean Medley’ by Hans Zimmer.
George Wills on solo guitar will perform an eclectic mix of music that includes folk songs for voice and guitar as well as Mertz’s haunting Elegy. Jane Anderson has chosen an extensive repertoire of music to showcase her talents as a soprano that includes folk songs and lieder, as well as drawing upon music from popular composers such as Mozart, Schubert, Fauré and Handel.
David Miller is recognized as one of Australia’s leading pianists. His career has involved partnerships with many renowned singers and instrumentalists. Despite his busy schedule, his commitment to Sydney Conservatorium students remains unwavering.
