Councillor missing, but still in action
No doubt, when the next Eurobodalla Shire Council meeting comes to pass on July 25, there will be a notice of motion to excuse my presence from the meeting that I missed on June 27, and seeking my exemption from the meeting of July 25, and subsequent meetings on August 8, and as a contingency, perhaps September 12.

This last one I expect to attend, but can't guarantee.
I attended a medical appointment on June 27 in Canberra, missing a council meeting, and am now aware that I will be undergoing a seven-week course of radiation therapy in Canberra, starting on July 13.
This is something that hundreds of people in our community, be they young/old, male/female, have to deal with at any particular time, when the 'cancer' word is mentioned.
I am publicising this In the interest of being transparent about my absence and to alert residents/ratepayers that, for the time being, there will be only seven out of nine councillors able to vote on anything that comes before the council during those future meetings.
And yes, I'll be available via phone/text/email through this period and expect to be able to answer all communications.
And by the way, I am cool with this irritating thing and "I'll be back".

Thanks for the wallet
Thanks to the young woman who handed in my wallet that I misplaced at Narooma Hardware last week, which has renewed my faith in humanity.
The wallet was dropped off at the Narooma Golf Club, due to my membership card being in there, and with a considerable amount of cash still inside. I would love to find out who she was, so I can get her a small gift as a reward.

NBN and fixed wireless
Regarding the issue of NBN and fixed wireless availability from just south of Moruya to Tilba: those of us who will get fixed wireless have been misled and condescended to for three years.
In August 2014, there was a meeting in the Narooma Golf Club with NBN announcing it would install towers in appropriate positions and NBN would be available from about August 2015. The Wonga Rd (Nangudja) tower was duly built by June 2015 and looked ready to have electronics installed.
Then weevils appeared: In August 2015 it was announced that fixed wireless would be available in 2nd quarter, 2016. No reasons for the delay were given.
Enquiries to NBN met a stonewall: “We are not informed of the reason for delays.”
Wallaga Lake and Bermagui Towers were turned on in February 2016. In April 2016 it was announced activation of fixed wireless would be delayed till December 2016; no reasons were given.
In May 2016 the NBN “tour bus” came to town to show why satellite was a better option for Mystery Bay. It became available almost immediately. It was explained to the rest of us that fixed wireless was unlikely before the middle of 2017. It appeared complaints about the Tilba tower had held the project up north of Wallaga Lake.
· The activation date on the NBN website was extended to December 2017 in February 2017.
· On June 15 it had jumped to March 2018. I requested information and the response was: “Thank you for your enquiry to nbn. The reference number for your enquiry is 00060289. We apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing due to this delay in nbn™ network rollout for your address. Unfortunately, we are not provided with delay reasons.”
On Monday I checked the NBN website for my address and the response was December 2017. Is there hope or is this another NBN rabbit hole?
