NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee) Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Friday night’s ball was organised by the Narooma NAIDOC Week committee.
NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
The theme for 2017 was “Our Languages Matter” and young Layton Moore took to the stage and spoke beautifully in his language welcoming all to the ball while wearing a traditional possum-skin cloak.
