The persistence and focus has paid off with all students passing and two students completing a practice grading.
Duan Christie-Maguire, ilyo taekwondo’s head instructor, flew over from Adelaide to put the students through their paces testing them on all aspects of tkd appropriate for their grade level.
“Zoe did a great job preparing her club for the grading,” Duan said. “Each student performed at their best with high spirits and determination. Every time I come back it is a pleasure to see individual personalities and abilities grow through tae kwon do.”
Two senior ilyo students who have been increasingly assisting in classes, training above their grade level and performed exceptionally well at the grading were awarded a rare double grading. Dean McGrath earned his red belt and Daniel Bailey was awarded two stripes to achieve his blue 3.
Riley Hastie was awarded the Term Two Champions Award for showing increasing focus and self-control in class. “I hope he continues to show this dedication as he has the potential to grow into a great Tkd student.”
Narooma club instructor Zoe Cooper said she was proud of all her students.
“My ilyo students should be very proud of themselves for their achievements and conduct, every student is so unique and brings their own bit of flavour to the class,” she said “I love the comradery and team support which is so strong at ilyo tkd. The classes are great fun and I find teaching my students highly rewarding.”
After the grading, students enjoyed lunch and the senior team demonstration of the Bo staff.
