SERAS SCHOLARSHIP HOLDERS: Athletes from the Eurobodalla region who are scholarship holders in 2012 include: Essential Energy Program – Shane Ison (Nelligan - Rifle Shooting), Courtney Leary (Dalmeny - Athletics) and Farann Mathie (Bodalla - Polocrosse); Golf Program – Hayley McNeill (Batemans Bay); Lawn Bowls Program – Jay Breust (Narooma); and Netball Program –Rachael Kobold (Buckenbowra), Samantha Law (Moruya) and Semieka Reynolds (Batemans Bay).
THE mayor of Eurobodalla Shire Council, Cr Lindsay Brown, held a reception last week to acknowledge the achievements of local athletes who have been scholarship holders with the South East Regional Academy of Sport (SERAS) during 2012.
SERAS executive director, Garry Lane, provided an overview of the academy’s activities so for this year and introduced this year’s scholarship holders to mayor Brown. The mayor then responded by acknowledging the support provided to the athletes by their parents, the good work done by the academy, and confirming Council’s ongoing support.
Essential Energy’s regional general manager south eastern, Phillip Green, was also in attendance to help present certificates to the individual athletes in this year’s Essential Energy Program.
Mayor Brown also presented the SERAS Golf Program ‘Athlete of the Year’ award to Hayley McNeill.
