MERV Hughes is coming to Narooma to help out the Narooma Surf Life Saving Club and Narooma Public School.
He will be the special guest at a sports night fundraiser at the Narooma Golf Club on Friday, November 30.
The visit and night is being organised by David Moore, who recently moved to town from Melbourne.
It was there that he met Merv, who had been sponsored by his brother-in-law’s car dealership.
Merv and Mr Moore first got together in a fundraising capacity after the Victorian bushfires when he organised a charity cricket match for the Country Fire Authority brigade at Panton Hill.
The legendary cricketer had a great time playing against the whole town and his friend says he is looking forward to coming to Narooma.
“He is happy to do anything that encourages junior sport and gets kids involved,” said Mr Moore, whose own daughter Ruby is involved in Surf Sistas and Nippers at the Narooma club.
That’s why he has chosen the Narooma Surf Life Saving Club as well as Narooma Public School to be the beneficiaries of the fundraising night at the golf club.
There will be a silent auction of donated items, as well as a round of golf with Merv, a fishing trip with Merv and two nights’ accommodation on Montague Island.
Tickets cost $50 for adults, $16 for kids and include dinner.
Book now by calling the golf club on 4476 2522.
