A fine, sunny and nearly windless Monday afternoon had 39 bowlers enjoying the conditions with our Terry Lu-ain’t playing swinging lead and proving fruitful for him. The highest winning margin was drawn as the game decider which saw the winners on 11 in the Goose, Laughing Lloyd and Roger C-toe from the runners-up on a countback 7 in Terry, Paul Panel-derhulme and gospeller Bob.
No resting toucher was recorded nor was $59 jackpot won so the raffle prizes went to Broker Jim, Garry L-rentacar, Chemical Tony and Par Wain.
Thursday’s fine afternoon had 41 bowlers barely standing up to the ever swirling winds where the lowest winning margin was the game decider for the winners in new member Towelling Lewis’ wife Lee, Margaret Joiner and Pat, Ron Jim or Harold from the runners-up in 21 in Dr. McKenzie’s kids Bruce and Maureen and Margaret Ponder.
Due to such windy conditions it would have been a miracle had a resting toucher been scored nor was the $100 jackpot won.
Also due to the reporter’s absence using a feeble 55-year wedding anniversary as an excuse, no sinners or raffle prize winners were noted down.
The 1st round of the major fours championship saw Keith Cook’s team of Bill Drury, Don Brown and Brett Graham have an impressive 23/10 win over Buzz Breust’s team of John Rowley, Wayne Houston and Norm Wain.
Keith and his team got going early leading 8-nil after 4 ends, 13/1 after 7 before Buzz and his boys caught up somewhat to 15/8 after 12 ends and with 2 being highest score by any team for the next 9 ends.
Keith’s team ran out deserved winners 23/10 after 21 ends.
Next week will see the semi-finalists in action so come along and give them your encouragement and no doubt see some of our best bowlers plying their skills.
Committee positions resulting from the AGM held on the 21st August will be reported next week with many thanks to those who put their hand up for those positions.
Club Dalmeny Women’s
Monday was fine, Wednesday was fine,
Thursday was fine, Friday was fine,
But on Tuesday it rained,
So, no bowls,
How it pained.
But we did have raffle prizes which were taken home by Lyn Dunbar and Lois McGregor.
We do send our very best wishes to our friend and fellow bowler Eunice Drake.
Good bowling at the friendly club.
Narooma Women’s Bowls
Social bowls was transferred indoors to carpet bowls last Tuesday when rain started falling.
Two games of triples and two pairs matches were played.
Some ladies were clearly in need of coaching to acquire the gentle touch required (no names!).
It was a fun morning with a lot of noise and laughter, just perfect.
Jenny Coulson, proving that she is no newcomer, teamed up with Jean Vos for a good win against Clare Cork and Helen Donovan, also collecting the lucky draw prize.
Pam Grant claimed the raffle prize, thanks to Rapleys MidTown Meats.
Best wishes and Happy Birthday greetings to Kerry Ferguson for last Sunday and to Jenny Coulson for Tuesday.
Entry sheet for consistency is on the board.
