Captain Koala was a special guest at the brigade’s recent open day and was a hit with the kids.
The brigade last week traveled to both Nerrigundah and the Mogo area, south of Batemans Bay, to help in two bushfires.
The Nerrigundah fire was deliberately lit, the RFS said.
The fire near Mogo began on a Woodlands property, off Dunns Creek Road, after a pile fire reignited in strong winds on Wednesday, September 13, in the mid-afternoon. The fire spread to the Mogo State Forest and also ignited in a nearby quarry.
