Cobargo horse rider Regina Nicholls and three fellow Zone 14 Cobargo Pony Club riders have competed and done well at the Queensland Pony Club State Sporting Championships held at Roma last month.

Regina’s mother Paige said they had a great trip, and the girls did well despite battling with the sun, wind and the dust.
Regina, who is in Year 7 at Narooma High School, came home with a second in flags, eighth in bending and 10th in barrels, competing against 30 riders.
“We had great company and meet new people and watched some great riders,” mum said.
Regina will now continue compete in local competitions and also hopes to improve her performances at the NSW State Championships in April 2018.
The Nicholls have sent out a huge thank-you to Angie and Neil Duncan from Bega for making the trip possible.
The Duncans not only organised the trip and transported the horses all the way up to Queensland for their own daughters, Zali and Alena, they also supplied the horses for Paige and fellow Zone 14 rider Rochelle Voveris.
Angie Duncan wrote on Facebook that she was so proud of the four Zone 14 riders who were part of the NSW state team riding in Roma at sporting championships.
“Our wonderful horses handled the long journey well, to be faced with red dust, strong winds and 40-plus degree days. We had some fantastic results with all four coming home with ribbons.,” she wrote.
The results were as follows:
Regina Nicholls in the 11-13 age group came 2nd in Flags, 8th in bending and 10th in Barrels and placed 13th overall.
Rochelle Voveris in the 11-13 age group placed 3rd in flags, 3rd in barrels, 3rd in cloverleaf, 4th in diamond flags, 7th in 3 mug and 9th in bending and 5th overall.
Zali Duncan in the under 11 years age group placed 1st in the barrels and cloverleaf, 2nd in the scudaho, 3rd in Bawndugie bend, 4th in diamond flags, and placed 3rd overall.
Alena Duncan in the under 11 age group (who at 7 years old was the youngest by nearly two years at this competition) came 2nd in 3 mug, 3rd in barrels and 6th in diamond flags and came 8th overall.
“So proud of these riders they were such good sports and such a credit to Zone 14, their club Cobargo, and themselves. Congratulations girls!” Angie wrote.
