The senior teams were coming off a positive result in a preseason game against the Doyalson Cricket Club that saw them regain the Cameron Crutcher Shield and provided a valuable hit out prior to the season commencing
Changes this season to the Far South Coast Cricket Association means the club is fielding sides in both Division 1 and 2.
The Division 1 side batted first in their season opener against Tathra. Despite good contributions from S. Mackie (21) and D. Friskin (15), Southern Eurobodalla were bowled out for 85 in 31.4 overs.
Southern Eurobodalla managed to take a couple of early wickets to give themselves a chance at a result, but a strong 37 from T. Taylor guided Tathra to a 7 wicket victory.
Division 2 faced a tough ask at home, playing last years premiers Kameruka.
Southern Eurobodalla batted first and made 125 thanks to solid innings from D. Sweet (30) and M. Corbett (39).
However, the class of Kameruka shone through in their inning, as they chased down the total in 26 overs.
Looking to next week Division 1 will play their first game at home for the season against last years premiers Merimbula, while Division 2 will head to Bega. Anyone looking to play senior cricket is still encouraged to come to training at Dalmeny Oval on Wednesday nights at 5pm.
The Junior season is also fast approaching and we will be looking to field two U12s sides, one U14s, and a joint U16s team in the competition.
Any kids between the ages of 8 and 16 that would like to play cricket this season need to get down to Dalmeny Oval this Wednesday from 4 to 5pm for training, or alternatively, get in touch with the club at secricketclub@gmail.com.
