Built from the ground up specifically for the grassroots cricket community following an intensive 18-month process of research and consultation, the intuitive and easy to use Gatorade MyCricket App seeks to address a common pain-point of those running grassroots cricket – communication.
To overcome this issue, the Gatorade MyCricket App provides messaging functionality, making it significantly easier for clubs and coaches to communicate with their players and wider club community.
The app allows coaches and club volunteers to create custom chat groups, chat one to one with other team members, and share images, GIFs and general banter, as well as provide access to fixtures, ladders, results and live scores in one handy location.
The app builds upon the Gatorade MyCricket software platform, which is used by 90 per cent of cricket associations in Australia, recording more than 15,000 matches every cricket season and enabling the vast grassroots cricket network to register, schedule, score and manage their cricket competitions.
Cricket Australia Head of Digital, Finn Bradshaw, expects the Gatorade MyCricket App to be well received by all those involved in grassroots cricket.
“Our grassroots community is the lifeblood of cricket in Australia and we are proud to be launching the Gatorade MyCricket App that has been developed in close consultation with the players, coaches, volunteers and administrators that run the game,” he said.
“By better leveraging digital technologies we are able to deliver administration efficiencies for the many thousands of volunteers running grassroots cricket competitions across Australia and enhance the playing experience for participants.
“In particular we heard that a major pain point for many involved in club and community cricket was communication, with many volunteers forced to set up email groups, SMS chains or third-party apps to share crucial time-sensitive information to players or to determine player availability.
“By adding messaging functionality into the app we are enabling timely communication between all those involved with clubs and teams efficiently and eliminating the need for ad-hoc emails or long-winded SMS chains.”
Marketing Manager at PepsiCo, Jamie Bruce, said his company was proud to be supporting digital initiatives to enhance grassroots cricket in Australia.
“Gatorade is excited to partner with Cricket Australia to fuel the new Gatorade MyCricket platform and enhance the playing experience for all participants at the grassroots level,” he said.
In addition to the Gatorade MyCricket App, Cricket Australia’s grassroots research project also led to the development of the enhanced Gatorade MyCricket Live Score App, which allows scorers to live score grassroots cricket matches.
Enhancements for this summer include improved reliability performance and stability, improved battery usage and support for modified formats such as Junior Formats and split innings.
The Gatorade MyCricket Live Score App is now available on iOS and Android.
