Congratulations must go to Jan Hemmingsen who was a unanimous choice as Club Person of the Year for his efforts throughout 2016.
The ladies cooked up a storm with a feast of prawns, ham, turkey, chicken with some fabulous salads.
If that wasn't enough, desserts of Christmas pudding, pavlova, trifle and a delicious strawberry meringue followed. Thank you everyone who cooked and fed us.
Club member Alana Hirs scooped the pool, awarded Gamefisher of the Year for her captures throughout the year of mahi mahi, kingfish and marlin.
Mick Roberts won Heaviest Tuna of the Year.
Young Digger Cowie won the club’s Junior Length Only competition, as well as the Flyfishing Division.
Another Junior, Kosta Malomitis, took out the Estuary Division.
Well done everyone, thank you, not only for the Christmas party but supporting us throughout the year.
Have a safe and merry Christmas!
- president Les Waldock
Les doesn’t like to put himself forward, but was awarded the NSGFC yearly Men’s Catch and Release Length-only prize, and also the Freshwater Award for a nice trout caught earlier this year.
I would like to compliment the organizers of this years Christmas party, the club looked great on the night, and members old and new enjoyed the food and festivities.
I am told the kingfish have returned and that there are some big ones amongst them, so get out there, don’t let the tourists have them all!
The inlet is also picking up with Ian “Hoots” Cowie catching a nice 82cm flathead. I may have to follow him to see where he is hiding them as I think he may have a secret stash somewhere and pulls one in now and again!
The club will be open as usually on Friday, December 22 and Friday, December 29 and all are welcome, the 29 being the end of the month will be eat in as usual, so bring your family and friends and make the last one for the year a good one.
Finishing on an important note, If you see anybody stealing the Angel Ring life rings or damaging them please report it to the local police on 4476 2044 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 as it is a punishable offence and somebody's life could depended on it.
They are installed by Australian National Sportfishing Association (ANSA) members and funded by the recreational fishers licence fees for the safety of the community. One is still missing from the end of the Narooma breakwall.
