The A Grade side started its two-day campaign in style, deciding to bat first against Merimbula. After a poor Twenty20 campaign before Christmas the top order found the longer form on the game more welcoming.
Captain Matt Corbett led from the front with a fine 51, opener Dean Friskin a classy 46, while Russell Thompson (33) and new boy Michael Filmer-Smith (25) also got amongst the runs.
The Southern Eurobodalla side were all out for 239, which left the Merimbula side a tricky few overs to bat. Elijah Blair removed the dangerous Dylan Jordan for a duck to leave the Merimbula side at 1/20 at stumps and the A Grade side well on top going into next week.
In B Grade the Southern Eurobodalla side decided to bat first against Wolumla and after a bright start by the openers and plenty of the top order getting starts, the home side were only able to total 127.
Best with the bat for the home side was impressive youngster Daniel Alderton 27, Jason Berry 17, Nathan Monck and Boyd Brennan 13 apiece.
In reply Wolumla took the home attack apart as they ran down the total in under 20 overs, finishing at 1/132. The sole wicket taker was Nathan Monck with 1/32.
Next week the B Grade side travels to Wyndam to get their campaign back on track as they strive for a finals berth.
Congratulations to Nathan Schaefer and Elijah Blair who have been selected to represent the Far South Coast in the Jeffrey Cup (Under 21) match against Shoalhaven next weekend.
