Australia Day Breakfast
What better way to celebrate Australia Day, enjoying a typical Oz-style brekky overlooking the beach at beautiful Narooma.
The annual barbecue breakfast put on by Narooma SLSC and the Narooma Lions Club is on again from 8am til 10am in the car park below the clubhouse.
The brekky always draws a crowd and is a great way to get you in the spirit of Australia Day. The breakfast includes a tea or coffee, sausages, bacon, eggs and toast, topped with your choice of ‘dead horse’ - tomato or barbecue!
Helpers for the Aus Day Breakfast are needed at 6.30am to set up the event. The car park in front of the club will be closed off to cars, boats will be taken out of the shed, tables and chairs will be brought down, as will the barbecue and food. Anyone available, please let Dobbo know you’ll be there to lend a hand.
This year, for the first time, the Narooma flag-raising and the presentation of this year’s Narooma district Australia Day awards will also be at Narooma Surf Club. That’s’ breakfast from 8am then ceremony from 10am.
Twilight Nippers & Senior Branch Carnival
Nippers returns on Saturday 1st February with a special Twilight Nippers and Saturday Sippers. Turn up for Nippers activities at 2pm in the afternoon (not Sunday morning) and afterwards head upstairs for a kids disco with resident DJ Matt Rat. Everyone is invited to bring-your-own barbecue dinner. Throw your meat on the Barbie and bring along salad/veggies/bread whatever – here’s to making it simple! The bar will be open for beverage purchases.
The following morning, we will need a working crew to assist with setting up for the Senior Branch Carnival – yes, Narooma has another home carnival! Please speak to Dobbo if you can be of assistance, from setting up, being an official, driving a duck, water safety, food for officials or general logistics.
All members over 15 with their bronze or SRC are welcome to compete – have a go! It’s inspiring to see the senior members of our branch, throw themselves in the mix either on the beach or in water events. Narooma senior competition participation numbers have been dwindling in recent times, so why not – it’s on our own turf, it’d be great to see lots of red, black & white out there!
