THE Narooma U13s Redbacks travelled north to Surfside to play Clyde where they started strongly with Ethan Anderson opening the scoring after only a couple of minutes. This set the tone for the rest of the match as Narooma set out to make up for last week's defeat against top dogs Broulee. It was not long before Ethan bagged his second and Jarrah Seaman added his name to the scoresheet.
Rory Spurgeon and his defensive partners Anya Shatrov and Emma Jackson were working so efficiently Digger Cowie had little to do in goals in the first half. Elise Dixon was tearing the Clyde defence apart with quick runs up the right flank setting up Amy Nitsche and Selina Mette up front.
After half time, Digger Cowie got a chance to show his outfield skills when he was replaced in goal by new signing Lawrence Kumar, who did well as keeper. Narooma continued to press and were rewarded when Rhiannon Duck popped up to finish from close range.
Chelsea Ker and Jordan Sharpe ran hard all game and were unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. Jarrah again was a pivotal player for Narooma not only setting up several chances for his teammates but bagging five goals for himself in the process. Ethan was not far behind him when he stroked home his fourth goal from the penalty spot.
The final score 0-11 to Narooma but full credit to the Clyde team who showed great determination and never gave up. Coach Hoots was extremely happy with the performance of all his players and had a tough time picking a player of the match.
The NSSC Player of the Match award went to Elise Dixon who performed exceptional work. This Sunday Narooma takes on local rivals Bodalla in a much anticipated clash KO 11.30am at Dalmeny.
U10/11 Redbacks
IT was an overcast day at Surfside, but the U10/11 Redbacks shone again. In their third consecutive win, 6-1 against Clyde United, it was strong teamwork that delivered another victory. Player of the match, Makayla Morris earned her title through her stellar defence in a game where she always seemed to be in the right place at the right time, with skilful footwork passing the ball forward for another Narooma goal to be kicked.
Goals were kicked by Kurt Zideluns, Kupah Martin and Jack Westoll. At least seven opposition goals were saved from going through by the brilliant goal keepers, Ruben Colom-Davis and Kurt Zideluns. Special mention should also be made of newcomer to the game, Jack Davis, who ran like a powerhouse throughout the match and delivered many passes which contributed to the team's well deserved success.
U11 Spiders
The U11 Spiders travelled to Cobargo and once again deployed their passing game to score several goals to overcome an under-powered home side. Jake Mikolic generously volunteered to help out Cobargo after half time, even scoring for them. Thanks, Jake. Club Narooma Player of the Match Anthony Elliott.
