Bodalla playgroup's new playground: photos

AFTER years of waiting the Bodalla Playgroup now has a functional playground for the children to get outside and play in.

Ongoing vandalism and numerous break-ins over a number of years led to Eurobodalla Shire Council dismantling what was left of the play equipment located behind the Bodalla Community Hall and used by the Bodalla Playgroup.

In November 2012 an application for $30,000 funding was submitted to Playgroups NSW be made on behalf of the Bodalla Playgroup but unfortunately Playgroups NSW was inundated with requests for assistance and failed to make the submission.

Funding was reapplied for in 2013 and the application was successful with the Bodalla Playgroup receiving $15,000 towards their playground.

Eurobodalla Shire Council contributed $10,000 towards the Bodalla playground and planning started.

Council gathered designs from three suppliers and gave them to the Bodalla Playgroup for consideration.

Bodalla Playgroup chose a modified design by a Victorian company Adventure Plus Playgrounds.

Eurobodalla Shire Council installed the all metal play equipment, retaining walls and relocated the boundary fence over a four week period during May and June.

“It has been a long wait for a new playground for the children,” Bodalla Playgroup secretary,” Amy Miles said.

“The kids really love it and we like to thank Playgroups NSW Inc. in particular Erica Smith who did all the hard work and Eurobodalla Shire Council for their contribution.”
